The basics:
Job Title: Shift Manager
Pay: £46,000 (inclusive of shift premium)
Shift/hours: Monday 3pm to 1am, Tuesday to Thursday 3pm to 12:30am - 36.5hr week
Location: Derby
Industry: Manufacturing
Holidays/benefits: Production Bonus Scheme, Pension, Death in Service Benefit - 2 x annual salary, Additional Annual Leave Entitlement, 5.6 weeks of annual leave per year.
Structure: In charge of the late shift in it's entirety, working closely with the Manufacturing Manager and Operations Director.
Overview:
Working in modern, purpose-built manufacturing facilities we now require a shift manager to lead the late shift. You will be tasked to drive the shift forward with regards to productivity and output, leading a team of circa 30 people that have a range of different skill sets.
Overview of responsibilities:
· Lead, coach, and support a team of skilled and semi-skilled staff.
· Ensure production targets (output, quality, efficiency) are consistently achieved.
· Monitor shift performance and address any operational issues promptly.
· Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health & safety standards.
· Conduct shift handovers and ensure clear communication across teams.
· Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste.
· Ensure accurate completion of shift reports, production records, and KPI tracking.
· Support onboarding and training of new team members.
The ideal candidate / Shift Manager may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:
· Experience in a manufacturing or production environment in a leadership role.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
· 5S and lean manufacturing methodology - experience

Derby, Nottingham, Burton-Upon-Trent and surrounding areas.
