Position : Electrochemist, Research Chemist, Research Scientist, Senior Scientist

Location : Cambridgeshire

Salary : Likely to be in the £45,000-£55,000 bracket according to experience

Level : PhD preferred

The Role :

  • Design, plan, and execute R&D projects to investigate and develop advanced solutions to enhance the performance of energy storage cells, pushing the boundaries of current technologies.
  • Devise, lead and deliver projects to adapt and improve current technologies
  • Support the growth of materials research,
  • Test and analyse materials using advanced electrochemical techniques, equipment and instrumentation.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations to peer groups, investors, the Board of Directors which may include technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring proper use and upkeep of equipment.

Senior Scientist requirements

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Material Science, Energy Technologies
  • 1-5 years of industrial (or post-doctoral) experience in R&D or a related capacity.
  • Expertise in electrochemical cell design and development (batteries, supercapacitors, energy storage systems), component interactions, and testing methodologies
  • Proven innovation skills in electrochemistry or electrode material science.
  • Solid understanding and experience of working with the design and development of carbon- based electrode materials.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design and physical characterisation techniques.
  • Ability to analyse complex data rigorously and communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential
  • A drive to push the boundaries of what is seen as possible
  • Passionate about renewable energy
  • High attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
