Position: Quality Test Engineer

Location: York Area, North Yorkshire

Salary: £41,600

Nicholas Associates has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Test Engineer, to join an established & growing client in the York area.

You will be responsible for supporting the Quality Management certification requirements and growing customer demands across the organisation's aerospace, defence and space programmes.

The role will ensure that Business first article inspection, materials testing and equipment calibration needs are met.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • To measure product and compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR's) against customer and Business requirements
  • To manage the organisations calibration database
  • To calibrate the company's measuring equipment against internal standards
  • To manage the calibration of off-site calibrated equipment
  • To carry out the tensile test of cast test bars/castings against customer and business requirements
  • To carry out the hardness test of cast test coins against customer and Internal requirements
  • To carry out cast material composition testing against customer and Internal requirements.

You will have:

Qualifications/Education/Training

  • Engineering Degree (or equivalent) ideally including
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Manufacturing / Production Engineering
  • Material or Industrial Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of IS9001 / AS9100 principles
  • Exposure to process control and quality assurance models
  • Manufacturing experience, a good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical principles
  • Aerospace, Defence and Space sector experience (or highly regulated manufacturing, such as medical, nuclear, automotive)
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Database management experience
  • Product measurement experience, including the use of digital vernier calipers, height gauges, micrometer, CMM
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 (Aerospace FAIR standard)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of materials testing standards (tensile/hardness/composition)
  • Working knowledge of measurement device calibration.
