Position : Quality Technician (Metallurgy bias)
Location : Sheffield
Salary : 25,000-35,000
Salary is very much dependant on experience and ability. It will range from c 25,000 for someone newly graduated with a Degree or Masters Level qualification in metallurgy, materials science or very similar up to 35,000 or so for someone with more proven professional experience
About the role :
The role will comprise of 2 main parts which are metallurgy and quality. There is not currently enough workload to focus solely on the metallurgical side of things and so getting involved with quality will also be essential.
- you will take the lead on customer complaints / issues where metallurgy is believed to be a factor in a failure
- you will ensure that all the metallugical laboratory equipment is kept in a good state of repair and cleanliness
- assisting with the inspection of work in progress and finished products
- assisting with checking production documentation
In addition you may be asked to get invovled in other aspects of metals production as required from time to time

About You :
- You will definitely need a qualification/ experience in metallurgy or materials science ; this may be via an apprenticeship or university eduation.
- Experience of basic metallurgical laboratory work and testing will be required
- Experience of working to industry standards such as ISO regulations is benefical
- A can do attitude, happy to be flexible as to duties performed in a small business
- Customer facing, and able to talk to customers on a technical level with regards to metallurgical issues
- Have a close attention to detail with accurarte record keeping abilities
- Any experience of quality testing techniques / tools is preferred eg verniers, micrometers, shdow graphs, 8d, root cause analysis
