Production Engineering Manager

Role : Production Engineering Manager

Location : Barnsley

Salary : 45,000

Purpose of Role

  • Support all Production Engineering related actions generated through the Stakeholder meeting process.
  • Develop hands on analysis, problem solving and improvement of all production processes, methods and engineering specifications.
  • Manage the development and implementation of ISO 18001 Health & Safety Management System to achieve and maintain accreditation.
  • To develop, maintain and support the implementation of the Production Management systems.
  • Support the reduction in overall manufacturing costs through improved Standardisation.
  • To structure, manage, coach and audit the Production Engineering team through the deployment of LEAN management principles, to address part and process issues and reduces costs. Application of standardised problem resolution tools to define problem root cause and appropriate deployment of preventative actions.
  • Improve LEAN Manufacturing knowledge across the site, through training, mentoring and the deployment of LEAN techniques in all Production Engineering activities.
  • Development and auditing of and to the company standards document, through agreed central standards.
  • Deploy strategic goals for the improvement and development of the site, through facilities management, TPM and layout planning. Effective management of service contractors, reporting and trending of breakdowns to reduce unplanned downtime through the development and deployment of the standard fault diagnostics system.
  • Identifying, evaluate and test tooling and equipment to improve legacy product production requirements to reduce processing times and reduce costs.
  • Support the development of internal and external stores/logistics improvements through the physical set up of line side Kanban, JIT and Min/Max 2 bin systems, supporting the Logistics Team with supporting documented procedures, packaging standards and Poke Yoke kitting methods.
  • Development of supply formats, systems and packaging

Qualifications & Experience

  • Leadership experience in a Continuous Improvement / LEAN
  • Excellent capability of Kaizen / LEAN / Six Sigma problem resolution techniques
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Process : Welding , Machining, Bending and Finishing ( Paint )
