Position: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Scunthorpe
Salary: £51,750
Shift Pattern: Average of a 42 hour week on a 12 hour shift rota - 06:00 - 18:00/18:00 - 06:00
Reporting into the Lead Technician on shift or to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for managing a site with both mechanical and electrical technologies. You will attend & repair breakdowns in a timely manner to limit the impact on production. You will be proactive in continuous improvements and planned maintenance activities for all site equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- This key role requires active participation in all tasks and processes with a hands-on approach.
- Complete all PPMs in the set timeframe.
- Be proactive in the equipment / process continuous improvement programmes and be aware of equipment performance trends such as efficiency, quality and waste.
- Identify and rectify as efficiently as possible any faults on the production process in line with current health and safety legislation. Notify the appropriate Area Manager of any anticipated "downtimes", complete report sheets and record all breakdown details (on task sheets), including time to rectify fault.
- Carry out routine equipment installations as required and be involved in or be familiar with any project plans for the installation of new equipment.
- CMMS Reporting: Ensuring all work is promptly and accurately reported on the Shire CMMS system, maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities and tasks.
- Complete information required for shift hand-over. Effectively communicating to ensure clarity and understand to maintain a smooth transition of information between shifts.
- Attend SIC shift production meeting as required, contributing any insights and updates relevant to engineering operations.
- Highlight top issues on current production to the Lead Technician, assist with development of an action plan to resolve/manage in conjunction. Identify and address key production issues, collaborating with other shift technicians to ensure timely solutions.
- Attend team briefs regarding upcoming activities and priorities.
- Identifying opportunities for planned maintenance and remedial work, coordinating with the Lead Technician to ensure readiness and effective execution.
- Maintain detailed Root Cause Analysis reports for all major stoppages, segregations, and seam defects to facilitate resolution and prevention.
- Ensure meeting attendance as and when required with a focus on internal customer support.
- Execute remedial work, ensuring timely acquisition of all necessary components and resources.
- Contacting external suppliers / technical support may be required out of normal hours to liaise on problems.
- Control of contractors and permits to work, ensure all RAMS are sufficient - in conjunction with the Lead Technician.
- Ensure effective close out of permit prior to shift end and facilitate appropriate hand over.
- As part of the team-working environment assist in educating operators in the mechanical operation of their equipment ensuring that health and safety legislation is complied with. This will allow them to assist with basic maintenance practices and ensure the correct set-up procedures are followed for their equipment.
- Apprentice training and management - Provide training and mentorship to apprentices, ensuring their development and progression within the team.
- Ensure a safe working environment exists for ALL employees by prioritising safety and well-being through implementation and rigorous maintenance of safety protocols and practices.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, maintaining high levels of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all non-routine tasks, ensuring the safety and well-being of all team members.
You will have:
- Time served apprenticeship
- Recognised electrical & mechanical qualifications (ideally with HNC)
- Food Production/FMCG experience
- C&G Electrical Qualification
