Role : Field Service Engineer
Location : Home based covering the M4 / Nationwide corridor from Reading to Bristol
Ideal locations Reading, Newbury, Swindon, Chippenham, Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham
Salary : c 30,000 basic
Overtime, fully expensed vehicle, tools, laptop, tablet, phone, pension, travel time is paid, Uniform provided.
Realistic OTE 30,000 - 35,000
Hours of Work : 4 weeks on days followed by a week on afternoons followed by a week on nights.
In addition you will have to support a 24-7 on call service on a rota system in order to meet the 4 hour response times offered to clients
Following the week on nights, the Monday is a paid rest day
The Job :
Providing a first class service to customers via the service, repair, preventive and reactive maintenance of mechanical handling equipment in large high profile distribution centres and warehouse
Representing the company professionally at all times in terms of appearance, attitude, manners etc
Ensuring that all contractual requirements are met and surpassed, escalating
To identify other areas where additional service offerings may be made

About You :
Proven experience of working as a field service engineer
Experience of the service and repair of mechanical handling equipment, fork trucks, skid steers and other equipment found in large distribution centres, logistics facilities and warehouses
Mechanically biased but ideally with some exposure to electric motors and electrically driven vehicles (eg fork trucks)
Experience of the service and repair of hydraulic systems is very much preferred. However the use of hydraulics in materials handling vehicles / equipment is diminishing as electric motors become more prevalent.
Experience with plugging a laptop or tablet into a piece of machinery and running diagnostic programmes to deduce problems
Holds an appropriate formal engineering qualification and / or is apprentice trained
Holds a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points. No disqualifications within the last 10 years. Due to motor vehicle insurance purposes, we can only consider people older than 23 years old for this role
Good awareness of spares. You will carry a variety of spare part and components on the van and will need to make sure that this is maintained to required levels after use.
Good communicator, as company representative on site, able to deal with problems whilst on site.
Constant communication with Service Manager / Office.
Possibility of work in Europe.. France / Germany as service backup to clients.
