Estimator Commercial Glazing

Our client occupy a fairly unique position in the UK construction industry, offering a design, supply and installation service for Commercial Glazing, Rainscreen Cladding, Aluminium Windows, Doors and Curtain-walling.

Over the past 20 years they have continued to strengthen there position in the industry as a leading specialist contractor involved in a diverse range of projects including:

2 Residential
3 Health

5 Infratructure
6 Leisure

The company provides substantial in-house manufacturing facility for cladding, windows / curtain-walling and commercial glazing, providing them, as an installer, with a greater degree of flexibility and control over the procurement process.

As a result of there efficient manufacturing facilities and extensive experience in value-engineered design, manufacture and installation in there areas of expertise, they are able to offer there clients the benefits of “Total Faade Solutions”

As a result of a strong order book and increased level of inquiries they are looking for additional estimating resource, the ideal candidate will have experience of rainscreen cladding, curtain wall and commercial glazing systems. The principal duties of the Estimator include:-

1 Prepare material quantity lists, estimate Drawing Office, Fabrication and Erection times taking into account the project specification.
2 Prepare a making price form for the total requirements of each inquiry or elemental part, where individual prices are to be submitted.
3 Obtain quotations for sub-contract services and evaluate contents of quotations received for compliance with specification and value for money.
4 Where required prepare a bar chart programme.
5 Ensure that the available capacity has been checked with the Commercial Director before a programme offer is made to the Client.
6 Submit the completed estimate to the Commercial Director for checking and addition of margins.
7 To prepare a draft quotation for approval by the Commercial Director as far as possible using the standard format and adding any necessary special qualifications.
8 To liaise with clients regarding submitted tenders and resolve any technical, programme and / or commercial issues as required.
9 Liaise with Commercial Director keeping him up to date with the current estimating situation.
10 To maintain and where necessary develop the sales and estimating computer systems to meet the needs of the company
11 To implement the Quality Management Systems appropriate to those activities.

The competencies required of the Estimator to enable the carrying out of the principal duties include:-

1 A robust knowledge of envelope contracting and experience of Technal, Schuco & Senior systems
2 A robust understanding of the workings and cost drivers of the different departments within a contracting organisation
3 Experience of the construction industry
4 Computer literate & experience of LogiKal & Schucal software
5 Numerical skills
6 Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
7 An awareness of Health and Safety legislation
8 Commercial awareness
9 Time management and planning
10 Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with both external clients and internal departments
11 To demonstrate integrity and confidentiality when dealing with commercially sensitive information
