Job Vacancy: Engineering Project Manager (E,C&I)

Job Purpose: The Engineering Project Manager will take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all company and client processes. This role involves the coordination and management of the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work.
  • Define fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
  • Deliver budgets/estimates, schedules, multi-disciplined detailed designs, scopes of work, specifications, commissioning plans, training plans, and final documentation for assigned projects.
  • Support project managers with the definition of project programs and budgets.
  • Assist project managers with monitoring and reporting project performance and managing changes.
  • Ensure all work is executed in compliance with company and client processes.
  • Promote safety, HSEQ compliance, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry requirements, technological developments, and client directives.
  • Strive for efficient delivery using principles like "right first time" and "fit for purpose."
  • Communicate and collaborate with all affected parties to ensure effective project delivery.

Main Activities:

  • Prepare overall project scope, costs, and schedules.
  • Support project managers in the development of project programs.
  • Contribute to process risk assessments (PRAs).
  • Liaise with construction teams to gather necessary information (scope, estimates, methods of working, constructability, changes).
  • Coordinate design processes and team activities, ensuring input from all relevant stakeholders (customers, operations, constructors, subcontractors, suppliers, maintenance).
  • Facilitate a team of multi-disciplinary designers and engineers to develop fully detailed and approved designs.
  • Manage the procurement and expedition of equipment and materials, reviewing and technically approving specifications, requisitions, and supplier documentation.
  • Liaise with planning departments to provide accurate resource and schedule information.
  • Facilitate technical and project reviews and approvals.
  • Manage the production, issuance, and control of project documentation deliverables, including final documentation packs.
  • Support the construction and commissioning phases of the project.
  • Manage technical queries and troubleshooting.
  • Define commissioning and training procedures (operation and maintenance).
  • Review critical spares requirements and manage initial inventory.
  • Ensure successful project handover and completion.
  • Collate and report key performance indicators (e.g., programme, cost, change, quality).
  • Ensure active engagement in HSEQ activities (audits, TBT, etc.).

  • HSEQ: Adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Delivery: Quality, programme adherence, and budget control.
  • Competence: Technical expertise, accuracy, and soft skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Degree/HND (or equivalent) in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • HSEQ qualification (e.g., IOSH).
  • Preferable:
    • Level 4 Project Control/Management Qualification.
    • CompEx - ExF (foundation) or Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours), Ex05-06 (Dust), Ex12 (Application Design Engineers).
    • Functional Safety, IEC61508 - TUV or equivalent.
    • BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations (C&G2382-15 or equivalent).
    • CDM regulations knowledge.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an equivalent role.
  • Extensive experience in the industrial sector, particularly in COMAH Tier 1 process manufacturing environments.
  • Expertise in maintenance, shutdowns, outages, OPEX & CAPEX projects.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety and ATEX directives.
  • Familiarity with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of control and safety systems, communication protocols, and engineering design processes.
  • Proven experience with procurement, expediting, and document control processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, piping, EC&I, civil, process, etc.).
  • Experience with equipment/materials specification and industrial plant construction, installation, maintenance, and modification.
  • Competence in risk management, budget management, and team leadership.
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office, drafting tools, document management systems, engineering design software).
  • Experience in project delivery, planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Strong presentation skills.
