Despatch & Transport Supervisor

Summary:

To supervise the loading team, working closely with the transport department, the production teams and the drivers to ensuring the product are wrapped and loaded to the standards we set, and the drivers are delivering the product and meeting customer expectations. This is a key role to support the transport manager to ensure we have the necessary connection between the customers, drivers and loaders.

Key areas of the role:

  • Lead and manage the loading team on a day to day basis
  • Put clear checklists in place for the loaders and follow up to ensure tasks are complete in full to the correct standard
  • Regularly review wrapping standards (and audit accordingly), making the necessary changes/improvements
  • Regularly review the team's performance using the correct procedures
  • Carry out the daily SQDC meetings
  • Deal with day to day discipline issues – formal & informal
  • Deal with day to day H&S issues – near miss/unsafe/accident investigations
  • Ensure training documents are update date and being adhered to
  • Ensure asset care checks are completed on time and in full
  • Organise training so you have a complete multi skilled team across frames and loading
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept at a consistent standard accordingly
  • Act as number two for the transport manager and take instruction accordingly
  • Deputise for the transport manager as and when needed (holiday cover)
  • Attend driver's meetings and have proactive input prior to the sessions
  • Audit the success of the delivery experience for customers
  • Measure OTIF and set KPI's with the Transport Manager to make improvements as necessary
  • Work with the Transport Manager to develop the Loaders and the Drivers – to make One Team
  • Work well with production management to ensure the loaders/drivers are providing satisfactory service levels & vice versa
  • Evolve with the role as the Transport Manager develops the team

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: 30,000.00 /year

Experience:

  • Logistics Management: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Transport: 10 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (Required)

Location:

  • Lincoln, Lincolnshire (Preferred)

Licence:

  • HGV Class 1 (Required)
  • CPC (Preferred)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (Preferred)
