Search for Design Engineer - 3 Month Contract Inside IR35 jobs in Sheffield, South Yorkshire
An opportunity has become available for a Design Manufacturing Engineer to join a busy engineering team on a contract basis, supporting ongoing programmes and production improvement activities.
This role focuses on production engineering, jig and fixture design, and process improvement, working closely with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations - with a particular need for experience in steel fabrication environments.
The Role
You will be responsible for supporting manufacturing through design, planning and continuous improvement activities.
Key responsibilities:
* Design and detail jigs and fixtures using 2D and 3D CAD systems
* Plan and define manufacturing routings
* Support procurement of engineering components
* Work cross-functionally to support new product introduction (NPI) activities
* Contribute to factory layout improvements and new layout proposals
* Analyse existing processes and implement improvement plans
* Apply and support lean manufacturing principles
About You
* Experience within manufacturing or production engineering
* Background working in steel fabrication or similar heavy engineering environments
* Strong CAD skills (2D and 3D)
* Experience with jig and fixture design
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and process improvement
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques
* Able to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams
Additional Information
* Contract role offering £30-35 per hour depending on experience - potential to go permanent for the right candidate
* Involvement in a range of engineering and process improvement projects
