My client is a Doncaster based specialist in environmental and drainage solutions, supporting clients across a range of sectors to maintain compliance, manage risk, and operate sustainably, currently recruiting for a contracts manager.
The contracts manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple civils projects across the UK from planning through to delivery
- Define scopes of work, programmes, and ensure QSHE compliance
- Lead estimating, quoting, and overall project financial performance
- Monitor progress, costs, and quality, taking corrective action where required
- Provide technical input on civils and drainage works
- Produce project reports for internal stakeholders and clients
- Manage plant, materials, and subcontractors effectively
People Management
- Line manage civils operatives, driving performance and development
- Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and day-to-day team management
- Manage payroll, holidays, and attendance in line with company policy
QSHE & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with QSHE standards, CDM regulations, and company policies
- Manage RAMS, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience as a Civil engineering/Contracts Manager (or similar)
- Background in civil engineering, drainage, or water sector
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Good commercial awareness (estimating, budgets, cost control)
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Working Requirements
- UK travel with occasional overnight stays
- Flexible approach to working hours
