Carrier Despatch Team Leader

Stafforce Recruitment are working with an established business based in Sheffield who are looking to recruit a Carrier Despatch Team Leader.

DEFINITION OF ROLE

The Carrier Team Leader will play a vital part in delivering the carrier strategy set out by the Carrier Manager and in line with the business plan.

The Carrier Despatch Team Leader will lead the Carrier Despatch team in the efficient and timely despatch of orders to customers via the carrier partners. Adhere to all packing standards set within the business by the Carriers Manager and ensure that all internal and external standard operating procedures and processes are worked to in all instances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES

Working to assist the Carriers Manager in creating structure and robust working practices within the carrier despatch team. Create a safe and efficient working environment and promote staff engagement. Liaise with fulfilment team as appropriate, building relationships through effective communication to continuously improve the Carrier offering.

Operational Management

  • Ensure the carrier despatch team process customer orders for carrier collection using appropriate systems
  • Ensure packing standards are adhered to throughout the carrier despatch section
  • Continuously monitor, suggest and improve packing standards and packing requirements with Carrier Manager and Fulfilment team; such as materials and processes
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls and emails from internal and external customers taking action in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding internal and external customer queries around missing/ damaged/ late deliveries; whilst managing customer expectations at all times
  • Ensure that all quality standards are met within the carrier despatch section, in line with those set by the customer and the business
  • Ensure that internal costing structures are followed for all despatch of goods for single carriers as communicated by Carrier Manager; gaining best value for money over space used.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment within the carrier despatch area through Health and Safety checks and clear working policies are followed
  • Continuously monitor, suggest and implement improvements to the carrier despatch section for smooth workflow and efficient working

System Management

  • K8; Carrier Systems; MetaPack; MS Office and MS Outlook
  • Liaise with relevant IT Support teams as appropriate; raising calls where required

Resource

  • Plan, monitor and adjust staffing levels to meet completion of team daily tasks; including holiday and sickness cover and task allocation for activity in line with time, cost and quality targets agreed by Carriers Manager
  • With Carriers Manager plan and set team objectives in line with business strategy
  • Implement and monitor housekeeping activity to maintain health and safety standards and space for efficient and safe workflow
  • Demonstrate awareness of cost/ benefit of carrier partner and consolidations as applicable
  • Continuously monitor and improve efficiencies within the despatch team and/ or cost savings
  • Develop and motivate a team of carrier despatch operatives; monitor and communicate performance and conduct standards
  • Hold weekly team briefings; to be used as a two-way communication channel
  • Identify training and development requirements for carrier despatch operatives; including induction and cross-skilling
  • Plan and hold regular catch up meetings with the carrier operatives; informal chats to develop the relationship
  • Work cross-departmentally throughout the warehouse(s) to achieve best possible outcomes and build relationships to support the team objectives

Health and Safety

  • Ensure full PPE compliance is adhered to in own area and appropriate compliance followed when in the warehouse
  • Promote safe working practices; including safe operation of all electro-mechanical and handling equipment through operator check and defect reporting
  • Ensure the safety of physical environment for self, staff and visitors to the area
  • Contribute to a secure, safe and healthy working environment; including max weight for carrying/ handling goods of 25KG

Opportunity

  • Effectively communicate cross-departmentally, challenge processes and procedures to enable collegiate improvement
  • Be a key player in agreeing and setting processes and procedures within the Carrier Despatch team; working with Carriers Manager and Process Manager to deliver and manage processes

  • Strong understanding of customer service and why it is important
  • Strong people supervisory /management experience. Able to comfortably challenge when required- but also supportive, encouraging and engaging.
  • Strong communication skills and able to interface with a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Experience of working with HR processes
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • They come from a fast-pace warehouse/manufacturing back ground

Contract Hours = 40 per week

Salary = 21,119 max

Working Hours = 09:00-18:00 (with flexibility as work allows)
