Building Envelope Draughtsman

The Company

Our client is a Specialist Faade Contractor based in Scotland who provide a full design, fabrication & installation solution to the construction industry, this includes the design and detail of commercial glazing and aluminium curtain walling, they work for blue chip clients on high profile projects in the education, health and commercial sectors throughout Scotland and the North of England

The Role

Attending any initial design meetings with architect / main contractor.

GA elevations and sectional details prepared in accordance with the architect's / structural engineers and system manufacturers recommendations.

Material ordering / call off using the relevant software

All relevant production lists for mullions / transoms (ie prep drawings for the shop floor), glass schedules, bracket drawings, pressed aluminium drawings, site fixing list and a fixing package which includes everything that is passed to the contracts department to pass on to the installation teams.

Attending meetings with architect's / contractors as necessary. The larger contracts have design meetings every 2 weeks.

Marked up elevation drawings itemising every item that have been issued (i.e. mullions, glass, brackets etc)

The above is a brief but concise list of activities expected as a minimum.

Requirements

A building envelope background is essential, ideally with experience of detailing aluminium, steel, and glass.
Experience of computer analysis packages.
Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal).
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Have a strong interest in technology and materials.
